Some students require a visa to study in Britain. It is your responsibility to check with your local British Embassy, British Consulate or High Commission to find out whether you need a visa. You can also check on the internet at www.ukvisas.gov.uk.
If you require a visa to study in Britain and wish to enrol for an English course of up to 47 weeks' duration (6 to 11 months), then you will need to apply for a Student Visitor Visa.
If you require a visa to study in Britain and you are intending to enrol for an English course followed by a degree or post graduate course at university of 47 weeks or longer, then you will need to apply for a General Student Visa under Tier 4 of the Points Based System. Your level of English for this type of visa must be at the level of CEFR B1 as a minimum. If you are applying for this type of visa, we will send you a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) to help with your visa application.
From 21 April 2011 the school has to assess your English language competence through the provision of a recent English test approved by the UK Border Agency.
Please visit http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecontent/applicationforms/new-approved-english-tests.pdf for the latest version of the approved test list.
Eckersley Oxford has been licensed by the UK Border Agency to enrol international students under Tier 4 of the Points Based System. Our Sponsor Licence Number is DT9U4RPK4.
It normally takes around 6 to 8 weeks to obtain a visa, so you should send your application form to us as soon as possible so that we can send you the acceptance documents.
The first thing you should do is to complete the application form from our website (click the button which says “apply for a course now”) and send us a valid copy of your English language test if you are applying for Tier 4 visa.
You should also arrange to send us the payment for your deposit of 300 GBP. You can pay this by bank transfer or by credit card. If you want to pay by credit card, you must send us your credit card number, the expiry date, the name and address of the card holder and the 3 digit security number.
You will also need to send us a photocopy (or scan) or you passport – we need the page with your full name, passport number, date of birth and nationality.
As soon as we have received your completed application form and English language test, a copy of your passport, and your payment of 300 GBP, we will confirm your enrolment and send you the acceptance documents, including details of your CAS, by post (this may take up to 10 days to reach you) or by email.
If you would like us to send the documents by DHL courier, please let us know. We will add the appropriate courier fee to your invoice (the fee is currently 30 GBP). You can use these documents when you apply for your visa. You must be able to prove that you have sufficient funds to pay for your course, accommodation and living expenses (minimum of 600 GBP per month) while in Britain.
You can obtain more information from the British Consulate or High Commission in your country.
